AEB: Russian car, LCV sales fall 27.5% to 131,087 units in July
MOSCOW, Aug 10 (PRIME) -- Russian sales of new cars and light commercial vehicles (LCV) fell 27.5% on the year to 131,087 units in July, the Association of European Businesses’ (AEB) said in a statement Monday.
In January–July, sales of new cars and LCVs dropped 35.3% on the year to 913,181 units.
“After a cumulative volume loss of 36% in the first half of the year, the July result of minus 27.5 % looks almost like a piece of good news. In reality, what we are seeing is mostly the low-base effect of a poor market showing in the corresponding period last year,” Joerg Schreiber, Chairman of the AEB Automobile Manufacturers Committee, said.
Lada car sales of top Russian car maker AvtoVAZ decreased 25% to 20,944 cars in July and fell 27% in January–July to 161,630 cars.
